New Report Documents Significant Return on Investment in Electronic Design Using The MathWorks Products and Model-Based Design
IBS Study Finds Savings Up To $10M In Chip And System Design Projects
The MathWorks today announced the white paper "Return on Investment in Simulink® for Electronic System Design" is now available on the Company's website at www.mathworks.com/roi. Authored by Dr. Handel Jones, founder and CEO of International Business Strategies, Inc. and a former engineering executive at Rockwell International, the white paper details significant time and cost savings that companies are realizing by incorporating Model-Based Design, specifically with the Simulink product family, into their electronic system design flow. Dr. Jones discusses the results of a study during which he interviewed leading global communication, digital entertainment, and semiconductor technology companies that used Simulink at an architectural level to design and implement ICs and embedded software.
"We documented significant design cost savings, but the surprising thing was that we found even larger benefits, stemming from improved time-to-market, optimized product performance, lower chip area, and better manufacturability. In one case, a conservative estimate of total financial benefit was $10 million! We're recommending companies consider all these benefits when evaluating the Simulink family," notes Dr. Jones.
In addition to providing access to "Return on Investment in Simulink for Electronic System Design," The MathWorks hosted a webinar led by Dr. Jones, which is now available on The MathWorks website. During the online session, Dr. Jones detailed his findings about using Simulink and Model-Based Design to lower design costs and answered participants' questions. Visit www.mathworks.com/webinar to obtain additional information and to view the archived webinar.
Dr. Handel Jones, founder and CEO of International Business Strategies, has more than 35 years of experience in the electronics industry. Dr. Jones has served in senior management positions at ITT and at Rockwell International, where he was vice president of strategic planning, acquisitions, international marketing, and engineering and was responsible for more than 1,500 engineers involved in communications, avionics, and semiconductors.
