The MathWorks Simscape Honored with EDN Innovation Award

CAMBRIDGE, United Kingdom. - (10 Apr 2009)

The MathWorks today announced its Simscape language received the top EDA System-Level Synthesis solution at the 19th annual EDN Innovation Awards ceremony held in San Jose on March 31, 2009. Simscape language capability aids engineers in modeling systems spanning mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and other physical domains as physical networks.

The annual EDN Innovation Awards honor outstanding engineering professionals and products across a wide variety of categories. The EDA System-Level Synthesis category finalists were The MathWorks, National Semiconductor and Altera, and their products were evaluated based on usability and overall impact within the EDA segment. Award winners were selected by EDN's editorial staff and its worldwide audience of electronics engineers and engineering managers.

“We take great pride in receiving this award from EDN magazine as it reflects our commitment to offer users the tools they need to address their most critical design challenges,” said Paul Barnard, Marketing Director for Design Automation at The MathWorks.

The Simscape language enables text-based authoring of physical modeling components, domains, and libraries within the Simulink environment. Based on MATLAB, the language gives engineers complete control over the amount of detail in their models, allowing them to create models at an application-appropriate level of fidelity.  Simscape offers engineers the ability to model the entire multidomain physical system, including the controller, within a single simulation environment.
