The MathWorks Wins "Ultimate Product of the Year" at 2005 EE Times Ace Awards
Judges Select Embedded Target for TI C2000 DSP As Best New Product Based on Usability and Technical Significance
EE Times announced last week at the Annual Creativity in Electronics (ACE) Awards Gala that the Embedded Target for TI C2000™ digital signal processors (DSP) from The MathWorks was the winner of the 2004 ACE Awards Ultimate Product of the Year award for the Processors and Memory Category. The MathWorks Embedded Target for TI C2000 DSP enables engineers using MATLAB® and Simulink® for Model-Based Design to perform automatic code generation, prototyping, and embedded system deployment on TI C2000 DSP based controllers for automotive, whitegoods, and industrial control applications.
The EE Times ACE Awards were created to recognize the people, companies, and products that are making positive contributions and demonstrating leadership in the electronics industry. Finalists for the EE Times Ultimate Products of the Year were chosen by readers of EE Times and eeProductCenter on a quarterly basis via electronic balloting. Quarterly voting was from a list of ten nominees submitted to readers by expert editors with accompanying editorial reviews. More than 1,000 engineers participated in the voting process.

The Embedded Target for TI C2000 DSP enters the market at a time when an increasing number of engineers are using DSP based controllers with integrated peripherals in place of traditional microcontrollers (MCUs) for applications that require complex algorithmic processing. This growing need for DSP power is especially pertinent when developing features such as sensorless alternating current (AC) induction vector control, current-shaped switched-reluctance control, or permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) servo control. Using The MathWorks Link for Code Composer Studio™, the Embedded Target for TI C2000 works seamlessly with TI’s integrated development environment (IDE), Code Composer Studio (CCStudio), enabling execution of CCStudio commands for analysis, debugging, and automated code verification from MATLAB.
