audio file gets degraded after using mp3read

i used mp3read to load an audio file into matlab.And when i play it through the sound function it doesn't sound anything like that song.when i plot the frequency spectrum i get signals at high and low frequencies and its flat at the middle frequencies.The plot is almost same for every file i tried.but each song sounds different.what could have gone wrong ? thanks in advance!

Please post the used code. It is not likely that we can guess, what went wrong, based only on the fact, that the results do not match your expectations.
