Using pre- and post-operative corneal topography data from a LASIK surgery patient as an example, this article describes the modal analysis of optics data using Zernike functions implemented in MATLAB. The Zernike function M-files used in this article are available for download. Using these M-files, computing the spectrum of Zernike modal amplitudes can be performed with a few simple lines of MATLAB code.
