I want to know more about compressed sensing so that I can try it in Matlab.

There is a statement in the article :
"(JPEG) Compression: Computed wavelet coefficients decay fast enough, that only the largest 100 coefficients are retained (1% of 1 million)."

I want to know about this wavelet thing in an image .... !
Could you please help me find some sources to start studying and some matlab help too?
