Site Search
Choosing Keywords
To optimize your search results, choose your keywords carefully. Be specific,
using multiple words when possible. For example, a search on bar plot
will yield fewer, more relevant results than a search solely on graphics.
Capitalization
Searches on our site are NOT case sensitive. All letters are
understood as lower case. For example, searching for "MATLAB", "Matlab",
and "matlab" will
return the same results.
Spelling
Check to ensure your search terms are spelled correctly, especially
if your search query returns no results.
Advanced Search
You can go to the advanced search page from most pages on Mathworks.com by using the "advanced search" link on the top left corner of the page, below the search box.
Narrow Your Search Using CategoriesStep 1 on the advanced search page allows you to search within specific categories and collections to narrow your search. By selecting one or more categories from the list, your search will be restricted to only those areas of the site. If you would rather search the entire web site, leave the check boxes blank and continue to the next step.
Number of Results Displayed
Step 2 allows you to change the number of search results
that will display on the page (10, 20 or 50).
Summaries
You can select whether to show summaries with the search results, or
hide them. Summaries are turned on by default.
For Step 3, you simply need to type in a few descriptive words and press the search button.
Interpreting the Search Results
"Best Bets"Occasionally, you may see a list of "Best Bets" returned before your search results. The Best Bets are our recommendations for the best possible search results, based on your search query.
Narrowing Your Search
Once your search results are returned, you will see how many documents matched your search criteria. You can use the "advanced search" link to refine your query if needed.
Document Type
This tells you whether the document is an HTML page, or an Adobe PDF file. You can download a free version of Adobe's Acrobat Reader if you do not currently have the software installed to open PDF files.
Summaries
By providing additional page content, the summaries below the search results links may help you determine how relevant the results are to your search query.
Your Search Returns No Results
If your search returns no results, you may want to try one of the following suggestions:
-Try a more generic search
