Analog mixed-signal engineers face a number of challenges. Existing tools don’t allow for appropriate high-level behavioral abstractions; the most popular tools are very detail oriented. The initial parts of the design process are slow, and project time constraints can make it very hard to explore different designs. In addition, analog and digital tools often don’t work well together, making it difficult to examine the dynamic behavior of the system, hindering communication among the analog and digital design team, and consequently affecting quality.
